Our Low-Tech Approach: Thinking Over Tech at Youngsville Academy
At Youngsville Academy, we believe technology is a tool, not a teacher. While digital devices can be useful, too much screen time can harm how kids learn and grow. Our classical, K-12 education focuses on teaching students how to think, not what to think; using this low-tech approach builds sharp minds and strong character.

Why Limit Technology?
In many homes, restaurants, cars, and schools, kids are given devices like tablets, smartphones, or video games to keep them busy. Too much screen time, however, can lead to anxiety, trouble focusing, or difficulty with emotions and friendships. At Youngsville Academy, we see these challenges and choose a different path. Our low-tech classrooms help students stay engaged, interact positively with peers, and develop the focus needed for deep learning.

Our Classical Way: Active Minds, Not Passive Screens
Our philosophy is simple: students learn best when their brains are active, not just receiving information. Devices often flood kids with information designed to shape their views without them realizing it, especially through algorithms that reinforce what they already think. We avoid this by limiting passive tech use, like mindless scrolling, and focusing on active learning. Students practice reasoning, communicating, and analyzing ideas logically - these are the skills that last a lifetime.

Smart Tech Use Begins in Junior High
As students grow and learn to think for themselves, we introduce specific digital tools in junior high. These are used carefully to support tasks, not replace thinking. By building strong reasoning skills first, we prepare students to use technology as a tool, not a crutch, ensuring they’re ready for college and careers.
